Please excuse all spelling and grammatical mistakes, my mom first language is French, but she loves to express herself in English.....

Seizure and Spring

Spring is here and seizures just came back. Free from seizures for a year taking Lamotrigine  medication. The doctor said that we can augment the dose, or we will have to change medication. The seizures are not bad ones , very light, but they make Alexandra very tired anyway. Spring is here, flowers everywhere, Alexandra is in tune with nature... changes are happening.

Earth Day

Took Alexandra to Earth Day celebration. We have been talking about animals and farm animal. It was perfect to find those little chicks in a cage at her level.

Alexandra is showing deep interest into the animals. This picture show well her attention and happiness with a smiling expression.

The chickens are so cute and so funny. They were even making vocal noise ...perfect to teach Alexandra variation in sounds.

It is good to watch her just enjoying and analyzing somethings specific like the little chicks. I believe that it is important to bring gentle awareness of surrounding, with the desire to watch and enjoy the outcome of your child in the situation. Be aware of her small movements , maybe different than what she normally do. Make yourself a observer.

The book of Anat gives you incredible information about how to interact, help and listen to your child own special being. I highly recommend this book.

Raggy the old doll

My mom kept my sister Gabrielle, toys..... Raggy is one of them. I have never shown to much interest in toys. They kind of frustrating to me, I do not understand them well, maybe not at all. I got use to the ones I sleep with, but I think that I do not relate to them because I do not relate to my hands! Do that make sense?
My hands do not really exist to my knowledge,  so how to relate to toys when you can't touch them to experience what they are. Toys are to be touch and play with and right now it is not possible for me because I probably do not know I have hands!
My mom is planning on doing a little experience with me, she is going to try to make me pay attention to my hands.....so we will see .

Sitting like everyone else

I have a wheelchair but when I go to places, I can sit on my own. My mom is so proud of my efforts, possibilities and accomplishments.  We have worked together for many years to build trust, faith and strength for what will be possible. Things are going to be even better, my mom is reading the new book of Anat Baniel  about Kids Beyond Limits. Try to get one and share with your child.... highly recommended.

Body position

Alexandra has always been on the floor. She is twelve and very petite, size 7 and as you know she do not stand or walk. But she sit very well and have great strength in her head  neck and back. I like this position especially with the hands distributed on both knees.

Being on her belly has always been hard for her, she is getting better had it. The ABM therapy has helped the curve of her back, because her 45 degrees scoliosis made it a little bit stiff. http://www.anatbanielmethod.com/children

This pose is ok too, I still like the arms moving around toward the back body and front. Very important that she experiences a wide ranges of movements.

Encourage your child movements, and observe the small movements she is doing. Praise her gently and move on.

Alexandra can stand on her knees, this is very good for her hips sockets, weight bearing and overall movement.

Five days travel with Alexandra

I just went on a travel with my mom, Carver and our dog Chico. My sister Gabrielle went her own way with my grandpa and Jackie to Vancouver Canada. I traveled to South Idaho, Sun Valley, Ketchum and the incredible Salmon Valley. It was beautiful. We drove allot but I enjoyed very much looking by the van window. I saw mountain , snow, trees and rivers. I loved it, I do very well when I discover new things.
